My name is Sophia, and I’m a writer and educator with a passion for vintage and antique textiles and carpets. I was trained as an Art Historian and received my PhD from UCLA with a focus on South Asian modern and contemporary art and photography. I subsequently taught for three years in New Zealand as a professor in the Art History Department at the University of Auckland, before returning to the U.S. to be closer to my family. I currently write art criticism for a number of publications and teach Art History at East Jersey State Prison. I live in the East Village with my husband, Martin and cat, Casablanca, who I adopted at 2 weeks old after being abandoned in, you guessed it, Casablanca.
