This rich violet pouf is remarkable for its lyrical arabesque central motif in cream, light turquoise and deep purple. Such undulating elegance is highlighted by the contrast with a sharply geometric lighting-bolt band, suggesting the artist’s refined attention to rhythm and line quality. As is common to Oulad Bou Sbaa weavings, there are small tufts of undyed wool peppered across the surface of the textile, and the lower border of the piece is adorned with a band of triangular peaks in very fine flat wool yarn.
